| Taking The Journey Goes Live |
 |
The door was opened and Taking the Journey walked through. On the evening of February 6, 2010, Imara, the creator of Taking the Journey, along with Sharon Butler, the Executive Editor, ventured into the realm of on-line radio called Community Talk Radio in Omaha, NE.
Carlos Carr, Sr., through a telephone conference call, conducted the first interview of TTJ.
The interview began with an explanation of the origin and purpose of the site. Admitting to being on the mailing list, but not visiting the site until recently, Mr. Carr began by stating how impressed he was with what he saw.
The first part of the interview was a trek through the various pages of the site, beginning with the welcome page and continuing through to the poetry section. Focus was placed on The Corner, Sistah's Place, and Afroerotik.
The second part included a discussion of relationship issues such as women's images as role models for their daughters and the need for extended family family structure.
This interview is just the beginning for Taking the Journey. Last year, Imara had a vision of what's next. That vision was laid out in his plan for the new year. July of this year is his projected date to start a radio show/podcast for Taking the Journey. An opportunity he sees to promote the writers for the site. The interview with Carlos Carr is just the first step toward that goal.
The radio podcast airs February 14, 2010 on Valentine Day at 7:00pm CST on Community Talk Radio. Click on the Play button above, in the Blog Talk Radio Player, to hear the interview on that day. If you have any queastion please don't hesitate to email us at takingthejourney@takingthejourney.com
***The interview with Imara and I will not be available until that time.***
